Associate Engineer / Cad Draftsman

Job Description:

Pacific Coast Civil, Inc. is a full service planning, engineering, and surveying consulting firm specializing in subdivision, commercial and utility engineering. Our growing clientele includes several of the nation’s largest builders and developers, and municipalities.

Requirements and Skills:

This is a long-term position with a highly competitive salary.  A successful candidate must have experience in Civil Engineering. Associate Engineer will work under the direct supervision of Senior Engineers and Project Managers. The list of duties includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017, Excel and other related Microsoft Applications.
  • Read and understand engineered drawings, architect drawings, and property title information.
  • Prepare design drawings for integrated infrastructure projects including mapping, grading, drainage, roadway, sewer and water systems.
  • Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques.
  • Must be a motivated and enthusiastic team player.

Land Surveyor CAD Technician

Essential Functions:

  • Researches, prepares, and completes maps, exhibits, and legal descriptions using CAD software programs
  • Preparation of construction staking plans and cut sheets
  • Preparation of horizontal control and right-of-way plans
  • Preparation of topographic maps from field data
  • Revises or changes drawings per management staff or per comments from entities and/or client
  • Conducts research and obtains information pertaining to specific projects as required
  • Completes closure calculations
  • Maintains organized files relating to plans, drawings, and sketches, which will allow access to project information for the Project Manager and other team members as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of construction plans and staking procedures
  • Knowledge of Boundary, Topographic, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
  • Knowledge of Legal Descriptions and Exhibits
  • Ability to interpret land records
  • Ability to learn and follow the company’s CAD standards

Desired Skills: (but not required)

  • The ability to run a field crew.
  • Ability to perform research of land records at the City and County Recorder’s office
  • Ability to perform online research of land records from County Recorder’s website, BLM, US Coast and Geodetic Survey, and other California land records.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.

Pacific Coast Civil Engineering/ Land Surveying Company, a leader in the Commercial,
Residential and Industrial Land Development Sector seeks a Party Chief and Chainman to perform ALTA Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Parcel Maps, Tract Maps, Tentative Maps, Easements, Construction Staking Calculations, Construction Staking and Boundary Surveying. Field personnel must have a good driving record and knowledge of data collectors.

Project Manager

PROJECT MANAGER sought by Pacific Coast Civil, Inc. in Thousand Oaks, CA. 

 

JOB DUTIES:  

  • Manage project lifecycle from initiation to completion, inclusive of budgeting, cost tracing, forecasting, and billing to achieve company financial goals
  • Design engineering, including creating grading and drainage plans, sediment erosion control plans, street design, water design, hydrology analysis, and hydraulic analysis
  • Internal project coordination of staff resources to achieve project timelines and goals.
  • Review of project designs by other employees for constructability
  • Administration duties such as billing and improving company processes and procedures.
  • Liaise and coordinate with government agencies and city officials on behalf of Pacific Coast Civil Inc. and clients
  • Liaise with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections for certifications
  • Solve construction issues on site
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with survey team to capture appropriate topographical data to complete engineering services
  • Supervise lower-level subordinates consisting of CAD technicians, design engineer, and engineering permit processor

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

 

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate project management experience, including two (2) years in project engineering or site engineering in civil engineering or the civil construction industry.

 

*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following:

 

  1. Estimating project cost, timeline, and feasibility
  2. Conducting site visits to resolve construction and design issues, to coordinate daily construction tasks, and for quality assurance
  3. Interpreting and revising project plans to ensure efficient design and maximum profitability
  4. Planning and programming projects
  5.  Liaising with government officials to ensure compliance with applicable laws
  6. Procuring services and managing subcontractors and subordinate employees
  7. Creating contracts and contract administration
  8. Meeting with clients and collaborating with designers on design build contracts
  9. Working with survey field crews to achieve project outcomes
